I’ve been trying to read the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins, but it’s not going well. The one time of day I get to read is at night when the whole family is sleeping and with a small night light. I wouldn’t advise reading about sleep under these conditions because it just puts you to sleep! The one thing I have been able to remember from the book is “sleep begets sleep.” This means to make sure your twins sleep during the day and they’ll sleep better at night. The age old thought of keeping them up during the day so they’ll sleep better at night is false, according to the book.
Well, without jinxing myself, I think this theory might be true! The kids are napping lots during the day, though only two really long naps – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. And they seem to be getting better at sleeping at night. The last 3 nights both kids have been asleep by 9:30pm, only waking twice for a feeding before 6am. I think this is pretty good! It works out to about every 3 hours, but it’s more than every 2 hours! There was even a night where Bodhi went almost 5 hours between feedings and Paloma went almost 7 hours. I got so much sleep. I’m trying to figure out what the key is for this long sleep…
There is one catch though…I want to sleep more! I’ve been getting around 5 – 6 hours of sleep at night, and I want more. It’s ridiculous and so selfish of me, but all I can think of is sleeping. Sheesh. When I get 3 hours of sleep, I might be a zombie, but I seem to function better. Mmmm…sleep so tasty.
You know, it just occurred to me – maybe it’s bath night that helps the babies sleep! I only bathe them once a week, but let’s try again tonight to see how they sleep tonight. In the interim, here’s some bath photos of my fatties!
